Whispering City is of decent quality (black and white) picture and sound. The movie itself is entertaining, some good dialogue. I love old movies with amusing dialogue. This won't get 5 stars for dialogue, but it can do on a rainy day. The music is appropriate, the casting excellent, writing meh, but if you like old movies, this is an old movie!

Canadian drama, debatable whether it deserves the "noir" designation, but hard to pigeonhole anywhere else. Great music, reminiscent of Rachmaninoff; in fact, I checked the credits twice to make sure he didn't write it.

Subject: Goosebumps-free semi-thriller
Slow-moving, Canadian-produced suspense drama begins as two separate stories which merge into one. Okay up until a farfetched conclusion you're likely to have seen before. Stars Paul Lucas, a surprisingly wooden Helmut Dantine and adequate Mary Anderson.

Adequate also describes the production values and direction. Filmed on location in Quebec and at Montmorency Falls which are mostly seen as rear-screen projections. Conclusion: One viewing is enough.

Except for intrusive sprocket noise in a few scenes, the print quality is okay.
